film info

  • Heuermo

the first one is a vintage chrono with a Venus or Valjoux 22-23 movement. Looks a lot like a 40s Heuer.

Montalbano’s watch looks to be the Longines Column Wheel Chronograph. I believe it was introduced in 2010, it is 39mm in diameter with 7.9mm thickness and can be had for less than $3000. I got a good look at it while watching the “Ray of Light” episode. There was a close-up shot around 23 minutes into it.

I’m more likely to go with Heuermo’s call of a 40′s piece rather than a very recent one. If the chronograph is true to the story line , a vintage piece is alluded to as it was Montalbano’s father’s. I did write to Luca’s agent in Paris for confirmation of the brand, but never got a reply. Pity.

I’ve yet to watch the latest crop of episodes , which I’ve recorded, as I’m getting into the 6 of ‘The Young Montalbano’. I had a quick search in Ray of Light recently transmitted, & the chronograph is not the same as in my submission.
It is steel, not gold, with date @ 4 o’clock, so apologies for doubting your call
which is a good one. I’ll post a sceen shot to this forum of this modern chronograph, if no one/you objects ?

Well here it is. Is it the same watch
after all, strap appears to be ? My original
image looks more steel to me now.

Answered my own question lol !
My original image has 2 sub dials,
the latest has 3. So we are all correct !
      Phew.
